Garage Opener Repair Denver

It can be incredibly frustrating when your garage door isn’t operating properly. After all, your garage door isn’t just the entrance to your garage; it’s one of the primary entrances to your home. Garage door malfunctions can be a major disruption to your day-to-day routine.

If you’re having trouble opening and closing your garage door, there could be a variety of underlying problems. One of the most common causes is a broken garage door opener. Though electric door openers are relatively simple machines, they can wear and break down as they age. Sometimes, a quick fix is all that’s needed to get the opener up and running again. Older garage door openers, however, may need to be fully replaced.

At PNG, we will always recommend the most cost-effective option for our customers. We will never recommend a replacement if a simple repair is all you need.

How To Know If Your Garage Door Opener Needs Service

If you’re not sure whether your garage door opener needs repair, we can help you determine the root of the problem. These are the most common causes of garage opener malfunction that we see on a daily basis:

  • The remote control is out of battery
  • The track is not aligned properly, or blocked
  • The safety sensors are dirty, damaged, or misaligned
  • The torsion springs are broken
  • The metal parts of the door need lubrication
  • The opening mechanism (chain, belt, or screw) is worn out or damaged

Some of these issues are easy to amend — changing out the batteries of your garage door opener remote might be all you need. Other problems may be difficult to diagnose and fix on your own. If you’re unsure as to why your garage door won’t open or close properly, a PNG technician can pinpoint the underlying problem and repair it in a timely manner.

Types of Garage Door Openers

There are several different types of garage door openers, each with their own set of potential problems and repairs. These are the four main categories:

Chain-Drive Openers

Chain driven garage door openers are the most common type found in residential garages. Though chain drive openers can be loud, they are also relatively inexpensive. These openers are typically mounted on the ceiling of the garage.

Belt-Drive Openers

Belt driven garage door openers use a rubber belt rather than a chain. They’re a smooth, quiet alternative to chain-drive, though generally more expensive. Belt-drive openers are also usually ceiling mounted.

Screw-Drive Openers

Screw-driven systems use a threaded steel rod, powered by a rotating motor. Though it’s the loudest ceiling-mounted opening mechanism, screw-drive openers are also the simplest to maintain.

Wall-Mount or Side-Mount Garage Door Openers

A wall-mount opener, also known as a side-mount, is installed on the side of your garage door at ground level. For this reason, wall-mount openers are great for garages with high ceilings. Unlike ceiling mounts, side-mount systems use torsion bars to open and close your garage door.
